Junior A H championship
July 30, 2018
Brian Dillons 1 – 21 Whitechurch 0 - 12
Our Junior hurlers went down to last year’s defeated county finalists, Brian Dillons, in the Seandun JAH 1/4 final on July 27th. Despite the final score line told a harsh tale, but in reality our lads can hold their heads high. We had 7 enforced changes due to injuries, holidays and “J1 Visas”, since the previous victory over Nemo Rangers on May 11th. We got of to a good start with 2 fine points from Sean Keane, but Dillons then settled with a point quickly followed by a goal. At times Dillons looked very capable but Whitechurch gave as good as they got with very prominent roles being played by Keith Timothy, Bryan O’Sulliva, Brian Humphreys, Killian Ryan, Dylan Burke, Hugh Woulfe & Sean Keane. As a result at half time we trailled by just 2 points with the score line at 1 – 7 to 0 -8. However, Brian Dillons really took the initiative at that start of the second half with 6 points in a row. Keith Timothy and the entire rear guard defended strongly. However, the exersions of the first half and the depleted resources began to tell, but our lads fought to the end despite the enevitable conclusion.
