HUGE TURNOUT IN SUPPORT OF OFFICIAL OPENING OF NEW FACILITIES
May 13, 2018
Thanks to all who turned out to support the official opening of the new facilities at Whitechurch GAA on Sunday, May 13th.
Hundreds of people watched the home side beat the All Ireland winning Cork team of '99 in a spirited display of hurling which will long be remembered.
That game was followed by a thriller involving the u21s of Cork and Kilkenny.
Senior officials from the Cork County Board - including chairperson of the board Tracey Kennedy - were present as tributes were paid to former Whitechurch chairman Michael Downing.
Michael's tireless efforts in support of the club have been memorialised in the stone that now stands at the entrance to the grounds.
Future generations of Whitechurch and Rockbán players will pass his name, as they look to bring glory back to the parish!
