County Committee Meeting 26.03.2019

The County Committee met on March 26th 2019.
The Chairperson opened the meeting by welcoming John Grainger (UCC) to the meeting and congratulating UCC on winning both Sigerson and Fitzgibbon cup. John Grainger spoke about the colleges’ success and gave special mention to Dr. Con Murphy (UCC Football President) and Dr. Paddy Crowley (UCC Hurling President). John thanked the Board and inter-county managers for their co-operation.
The minutes were taken as read and approved.
The Junior B and C Championship draws were made.
A letter was read out from Senan Carroll (Midleton) regarding playing on pitches after games in Páirc Uí Chaoimh and Páirc Uí Rinn.
The inter-county management reports were read out with the Chairperson making comment on the senior Hurling and Senior Football results .
The progress report was proposed and seconded.
The Chairperson congratulated everyone involved in the Kieran O’Connor fund, and reminded delegates about the Cork v Kilkenny game to be played the following night in Páirc Uí Rinn. Graham Canty was complimented on the article which appeared in the Irish Examiner.
Regarding the U14 hurling and football squads, delegates were informed that the county was moving from 4 regional development squads to 8 regions in both hurling and football to widen the playing base and decrease elitism.
The Chairperson highlighted the availability of the new season ticket and thanked those involved in its development.
The issue of inter-county player availability to clubs was raised and the Runaí read out an email that had been sent to clubs on the matter.
The Central Council and Munster Council reports were read and discussed.
The Cork GAA championship proposals 2020 were outlined in detail by the Runaí and following some discussion, clubs were asked to examine the proposals ahead of next Tuesday night’s vote. Any queries can be referred to the Games sub-committee. Proposals will be emailed to clubs later tonight and posted here on the website.
Votes of sympathy were taken and the next meeting was fixed for April 2nd.
