County Committee Report

May 29, 2019

The County Committee met on Tuesday May 28th. The draws for the County Championships took place and have now been posted here on the website.

Following the competition of the draw, the minutes were taken as read and adopted. The Progress Report was also adopted, with the County Chairperson highlighting the recent appointment of Conor Counihan as football project co-ordinator and informing delegates that the position of high performance manager would be advertised in the very near future.

Munster Council delegate Ger Lane gave a report on the most recent Munster Council meeting (as issued to delegates and clubs). A number of items of correspondence were dealt with, along with various inter-county match reports. The Chairperson wished all inter-county teams the best of luck for upcoming games, and congratulated the Minor footballers on reaching the Munster Final. She also noted that the Cork U20s would play Kerry in the John Kerins Cup in Clonakilty the following night, a new departure, and pointed out that Saturday night’s  Munster Championship double-header with the Cork women’s and men’s football teams both in action would be the first of its kind in Cork GAA history. The Cork Senior football team for the game against Limerick was announced at the meeting.

IT Officer Terry Brady gave an update on IT developments,  while Runaí Kevin O’Donovan reported on CCC matters. The Development Officer alerted delegates that the Rebel Óg review proposals would be on the agenda at the next meeting, while the Children’s Officer reminded clubs to complete their Garda vetting ahead of the upcoming Féile, which takes place on Cork from June 7th to 9th.  The meeting concluded with votes of sympathy. Next meeting: June 18th.
