County Committee Meeting Report

August 13, 2019

County Committee Meeting August 13th

The meeting began with the Chairperson welcoming representatives of the Cork Under 20 team that won the Munster and All-Ireland titles recently, noting that they had certainly displayed 'Corkness' in their All-Ireland Final win over Dublin.  As manager Keith Ricken was unavoidably absent, selector Micheál Ó Cróinín addressed the meeting on behalf of the management team, thanking the County Board, his fellow selectors, and particularly the players for their efforts this year. Thanks were also extended to Simply Suits, who had sponsored clothing for the team and to Clonakilty who had hosted the team on a number of occasions this year, while the contribution of football project manager, Conor Counihan, was also acknowledged. Captain Peter O'Driscoll and full back Maurice Shanley were also in attendance, as was backroom team member Charlie McCarthy.

The meeting was also addressed by GAA youth representatives Niamh O’Leary  (Mallow) and Tommy Carroll (Tullylease).

The minutes of the previous meeting were taken as read and adopted, as was the Progress Report. The Chairperson noted the increase in Cúl Camp activity this year and complimented all involved.

Reports from recent inter-county games were read out, and the Chairperson extended good wishes to the U20 hurlers and the Minor footballers in their upcoming All-Ireland Finals.

The meeting was informed that the County Executive has commenced the process of appointing new management teams for Senior and Minor hurling, following the conclusion of the terms of John Meyler and John Considine, and the Chairperson informed delegates that the process would not be rushed and that the aim was that anyone who should be considered for roles with either of these teams would be considered.

The meeting was also informed that Cairde Chorcaí would be contributing 50% of the cost of the new High Performance Manager, whose appointment is imminent, and the Chairperson acknowledged the value of this contribution.

The Runaí gave a CCC update, and the success of the County Leagues was again noted, including the generous sponsorship of RedFM and Rochestown Park Hotel. No fixture issues were raised.

An update on Páirc Uí Chaoimh was given, informing delegates that the pitch was due to be seeded the following day, and that the County Board office move would be completed by the end of the month.

Queries were raised and answered in respect of tickets for the All-Ireland Football Final.

Development Officer Pat Horgan reminded delegates about the upcoming Munster council grants deadline.

The meeting concluded with votes of sympathy.

The next meeting is scheduled for September 10th.
