County Committee Report

The County Committee met on Tuesday November 5th. At the start of the meeting County Chairperson Tracey Kennedy issued an apology to Bride Rovers delegate John Arnold in relation to comments made at a previous meeting, and the apology was accepted. The minutes of the previous meeting were taken as read and adopted. Des Cullinane and Pat Horgan were appointed as Children's Officer and Development Officer respectively for 2020. The Chairperson highlighted the Cork GAA Clubs' Draw numbers decrease and asked delegates to help with promoting the draw within their own clubs.
The Central Council report was discussed, with the issue of playing the inter-county Under 20 Football championship in the spring being highlighted.
A number of inter-county management teams were confirmed for 2 years. The Cork Under 20 management will comprise outgoing manager Keith Ricken, outgoing selectors Colm O’ Neill, Maurice Moore, and Micheál O Cróinín, joined by Barry Corkery (Eire Óg). The outgoing Cork Minor Football management of Bobbie O’ Dwyer (Manager), Billy O’Connor, Ollie O'Sullivan and Michael Hannon will be joined by James Masters (Nemo Rangers). Additional selectors have been confirmed for the Cork Minor Hurling team as follows: Tom O’ Brien (Carrigtwohill) and Ger Geary (Killeagh).

2020 Championship Draws will be held on Tuesday November 19th. The County Chairperson thanked everyone who helped out in the recent running of the County Finals especially the stewards, ground staff and events team. She also wished all the Cork representatives in the Munster Club championships every success. Various club teams were congratulated on their wins.
The Chairperson also reported that the new Páirc uí Chaoimh pitch was on schedule for the opening game of the Allianz League 2020.
The meeting was informed that a sub-committee had been put in place to recomend the appointment of officers for Rebel Og. The sub-committee includes Kevin O’ Donovan, Marc Sheehan, Ronan Dwane and Des Cullinane. It was announced that Shane Supple will become Rebel Og Runaí on January 1st. The Chairperson thanked Jim Healy and all the outgoing officers for their service.
Election counters and people to serve on the motions committee were appointed. The first County Board meeting of 2020 will be held on Tuesday January 14th at 8pm and the subsequent County Committee meetings will be held on the first Tuesday of each month for 2020.
Castlelyons got approval to purchase additional land adjoining their own complex and also permission to seek a low interest loan from Croke Park. The County Chairperson congratulated Patrick Horgan on his recent All-Star award and wished him all the best in his upcoming wedding. She also noted the recent retirement of Tommy Lynch and congratulated him in his recent 90th birthday.
Tom Hayes (Cobh) congratulated the Chairperson on her recent appointment as Principal of Carrignafoy Community College, Cobh. The Children’s Officer spoke about the Child Protection course that will be held on Wednesday November 27th and urged all clubs to attend. A stewarding course will be held this Saturday November 9th in Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
As it was the final Board meeting of the year, the Chairperson thanked all delegates for their support throughout the year and also thanked the Executive and noted the excellent work of Kevin O'Donovan during his first year.
